Overview: This is a pleasant rural section passing through the villages of Churchtown, Darley Bridge & Oaker before following a riverside path right into the centre of busy Matlock.
From the Peacock Hotel, cross the A6 & turn left over the river bridge. Take the next road on the right, turn right into the car park, and then left on to the cycle track.
After 100 yards, bear right on a path through woods above the river. After 400 yards the River Wye joins the Derwent on the far side.
Exit on to a road & turn right to the entrance to Peak Rail Rowsley South station. Take the footpath on the right signed to Churchtown. Cross several fields to a farm track & then road into Churchtown.
Continue past the old church & turn right through an iron gate. Cross the field & turn left after the next stile. Turn right on the road to Darley Bridge.
Cross the bridge & turn left into the little road signed to Oker. After some bends, turn left opposite The Firs bungalow on a path down to the river.
Cross some fields leading to an enclosed path alongside the river all the way to the centre of Matlock at the town bridge.
Train & bus stations are on the right.
Cross the bridge & turn right into the park for section 5.
Buses through Rowsley & Matlock go to Bakewell, Buxton & south to Derby.
Trains run from Matlock to Derby.
None of this section apart from roads is suitable for a wheelchair, however by following the White Peak Loop cycleway you can get to Matlock.
