At the recent Annual Meeting for the Derwent Valley Cycleway working group a question was raised about the progress on extending the Monsal Trail from Bakewell to Matlock that would join with the northern end of the Derwent Valley Cycleway. The Monsal Trail extension was part of the work done by Peak Cycle Links and a summary of the current situation was reported by the Derby Telegraph in August 2014.
This article states that planning permission will be sought imminently and supporters of the Derwent Valley Cycleway are encouraged to comment positively on the Monsal Trail extension as the link is key to meet the overall goals of a well connected network.
